Prof. Dr. Günter Mayer
Director of the Center of Aptamer Research and Development

Günter Mayer is a full professor of Chemical Biology & Chemical Genetics. After three years of founding and running NascaCell Technologies AG, an aptamer biotech company, he continued his academic career in Bonn and Glasgow (UK). He is a consultant to various companies in the life science sector and since 2010 tenured professor at the University of Bonn. He currently explores the broad applicability of aptamers for basic research as well as for therapeutic and diagnostic purposes. Prof. Mayer has a long-term (>20 year) experience in the development of aptamer selection strategies for small molecules, proteins, and whole cell targets and in the field of aptamer-based applications.
Dr. Marcus Menger
Head of the Functional Nucleic Acid-Aptamer at the Fraunhofer-Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology

Dr. Marcus Menger has been leading the aptamer working group at RiNA GmbH (Berlin) for 10 years and has a long-standing experience in the aptamer research field. Currently he is head of the ‘Functional Nucleic Acid-Aptamer’ laboratory at the Fraunhofer-Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology in Potsdam, Germany. Dr. Menger has a longstanding experience in aptamer generation, functionalization and application. As your partner, Dr. Menger offers his expertise in the semi-automated process development for the selection of your aptamer.
Stefan Breuers
Technician & Labmanager

Stefan Breuers has been successfully working for many years with Aptamers as the Lab Manager for the laboratory of Prof. Dr. Günter Mayer. Prior to specialising in SELEX, he has worked in a wide variety of scientific fields. Previously, Stefan has worked in both primary research biochemical, pharmaceutical, medical and biological laboratories, as well as in private industry as the Head of the Molecular biology and Immunology Department at LaboVet GmbH, a Veterinary Medical Diagnostics company in Austria. With his extensive knowledge of various techniques and methods, including laboratory management and work safety officer responsibilities, Stefan is a crucial member of the CARD.
